The Misericordia Health Centre offers interim and permanent care to a diverse population of older adults, many of whom live with dementia and/or other forms of disability. In collaboration with the Misericordia Recreation Department, myself, Toby Gillies and Hannah Doucet facilitate art programming for Misericordia residents. Residents are welcomed to drop-in, multi-media art workshops. For many people it is their first time making art. The program has encouraged them to be self-expressive, tell their stories, have fun, and identify as Artists.
We are currently developing a short film that showcases the many artists at the Misericordia and their experiences making and showing their artwork.
