The WRENCH
The WRENCH (Winnipeg Repair Education And Cycling Hub) operates the largest and best equipped community bike shop in western Canada and is an international leader in community bike programming. Since 2010 the WRENCH has utilized volunteer labour and bike parts reclaimed from the waste stream to create community bike programming aimed at educating youth, empowering volunteers and providing people with affordable, sustainable active transportation options.
Winding Ways Mural (2021)
In spring 2021 Natalie faciltated a collabroative mural process with WRENCH participants and staff through the Wheels of Courage leadership program. Meeting over zoom, we envisioned future bike routes through drawing prompts and games. Natalie used these drawings to create a colourful patchwork of imagined routes running through tall prairie grasses. The mural runs along the South West Jubilee underpass, greeting passer-bys as they use the new walk/bike route. Paint supplied by Take Pride Winnipeg.
